Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychologist to join our dedicated Mental Health team at Cornwall Regional Hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and psychoeducational testing for diverse patient populations.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy).
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling and therapy for patients experiencing various mental health conditions, emotional distress, and behavioral issues.
- Participate in crisis intervention and provide immediate support to patients in acute psychological distress.
- Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and other medical staff as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of mental health education programs for patients, families, and staff.
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in psychology and mental health.
- Offer consultation to medical and allied health teams regarding psychological factors influencing patient care and recovery.
- Participate in clinical rounds, case conferences, and departmental meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment strategies.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current registration/licensure as a Psychologist in Jamaica (or eligibility for registration).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in mental health settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in maintaining confidential patient records and adhering to ethical guidelines.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
