Job Description
Are you an early riser with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic? De Park Hotel & Suites is seeking a dedicated and efficient Laundry Operator to join our dynamic hotel service team for the morning shift. This pivotal role ensures that all our linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry are processed to the highest standards of cleanliness, freshness, and presentation, directly contributing to the luxurious experience our guests expect and deserve. As a Laundry Operator, you will be an integral part of our back-of-house operations, working diligently to maintain the smooth flow of freshly laundered items crucial for our rooms, restaurants, and spa facilities.
Your morning shift will begin with preparing the laundry area for daily operations, sorting soiled items according to fabric type, colour, and required cleaning methods. You will be responsible for operating industrial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment, following precise instructions and safety protocols to ensure optimal results and the longevity of our linens. Attention to detail is paramount, as you will be inspecting items for stains and damage, pre-treating where necessary, and ensuring every piece meets our exacting quality standards before it reaches a guest or is used by our staff. This role requires physical stamina, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. You will also assist in folding, pressing, and neatly stacking items, preparing them for distribution throughout the hotel. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and categorize laundry items (linens, towels, uniforms, guest garments) by fabric type, color, and cleaning requirements.
- Operate commercial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, and ironers safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload laundry machines, applying appropriate detergents and chemicals.
- Inspect items for stains and damage, performing pre-treatment when necessary to ensure optimal cleanliness.
- Fold, press, and neatly stack clean laundry, preparing it for distribution to hotel departments or guests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry work environment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to hotel hygiene standards, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Monitor laundry supply levels and communicate needs to the management.
- Assist with inventory counts of linens and laundry supplies as required.
