Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging and safe yoga and mindfulness classes for individuals and groups of varying experience levels.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse physical conditions, needs, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Educate participants on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of regular yoga and mindfulness practice.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging class environment.
  • Collaborate with the hospital's wellness committee to integrate yoga and mindfulness into broader health initiatives and staff support programs.
  • Monitor participant progress and provide constructive feedback and modifications as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of yoga techniques, wellness trends, and best practices in health and fitness.
  • Assist in promoting wellness programs and encouraging participation among hospital staff and the local community.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to safety protocols and hospital guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Certified Yoga Instructor (e.g., RYT 200 or equivalent from a recognized yoga alliance)
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience teaching various yoga styles (e.g., Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Gentle Yoga)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for diverse populations
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and safe yoga sequencing
  • Proficiency in French and Lingala (local languages) is essential for effective communication with participants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in specialized areas such as trauma-informed yoga, prenatal yoga, or meditation instruction.
  • Experience working in a healthcare, corporate wellness, or community health setting.
  • Knowledge of stress management techniques and their application in high-stress environments.
  • Experience with designing and implementing community outreach health programs.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
