Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Welder to join our dedicated team in Kalemie, Tanganyika Province. This role is crucial for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and fabrication of various industrial components essential to SNCC’s railway operations, including rolling stock, track infrastructure, and workshop machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of welding tasks, utilizing various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick/SMAW) on different materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. This position requires a strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and safety protocols to ensure precision and compliance with industry standards. You will work independently and as part of a team, contributing to the structural integrity and operational reliability of critical assets. Key Responsibilities
- Perform industrial welding (MIG, TIG, SMAW) on heavy machinery, railway components, and structural steel.
- Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques and procedures.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install metal structures and components according to engineering designs.
- Inspect welded joints and structural integrity to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring proper functionality and performing routine calibration.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair on existing metal structures and components.
- Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure project completion on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, promoting efficiency and safety.
- Troubleshoot welding issues and provide effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes, including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and equipment.
- Experience working with various materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Understanding of welding safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to operate grinders, saws, drills, and other power tools.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in demanding industrial environments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
