Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and dedicated Welder with a passion for precision fabrication and a steadfast commitment to safety? Gilmor Engineering (Nigeria) Limited is seeking an experienced and proficient Welder to join our dynamic team in Kwali, Abuja. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the fabrication, assembly, and repair of various metal structures and components essential for our diverse civil engineering and construction projects. From structural steel elements for large-scale buildings and bridges to specialized equipment parts and custom fixtures, your expertise will directly contribute to the integrity, durability, and overall quality of our deliverables.
As a Welder with Gilmor Engineering, you will be responsible for operating a variety of welding equipment, employing different welding techniques such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on various materials including, but not limited to, carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. You will be expected to meticulously interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and detailed specifications to determine optimal welding procedures, joint configurations, and ensure precise adherence to stringent design requirements. A keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of metallurgical properties are crucial for success in this position. You will work closely and collaboratively with engineers, fabricators, fitters, and other skilled tradesmen, contributing your valuable insights to project planning and execution.
This role demands a strong commitment to quality control; you will be required to perform thorough visual and, where necessary, non-destructive inspections of welds to identify and rectify any defects, ensuring all work meets or exceeds industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory compliance. Safety is paramount at Gilmor Engineering, and as such, you will be expected to strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, procedures, and industry best practices. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace, and actively participating in regular safety briefings and mandatory training sessions. We are looking for an individual who is not only highly proficient in their craft but also possesses a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, is adaptable to varying project demands, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and team-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Welder to significantly impact large-scale infrastructure projects and achieve substantial professional growth within a reputable and forward-thinking organization.
