The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association (APIA) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Remote Creative Web Designer to join our dynamic team. As our Remote Creative Web Designer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of web design, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. You will collaborate closely with our communications, programs, and IT teams to translate strategic goals into compelling visual designs and functional web interfaces. This includes redesigning existing website sections, developing new landing pages for specific initiatives, creating interactive elements for educational content, and ensuring all digital assets adhere to brand guidelines, cultural sensitivities, and robust accessibility standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain engaging, user-friendly, and responsive websites and web applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams (communications, programs, IT) to define design requirements and translate them into effective visual solutions.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and sitemaps to communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards, ensuring brand consistency and cultural appropriateness across all digital platforms.
- Ensure all web designs comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and optimize for cross-browser compatibility.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iteratively improve user experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest web design trends, techniques, and technologies, integrating them as appropriate.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output.
- Implement basic SEO best practices in design and content structure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Web Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse web design projects.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Figma).
- Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for front-end development.
- In-depth knowledge of UI/UX principles and best practices, including responsive and adaptive design.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or similar platforms.
- Strong visual design skills with an excellent eye for typography, layout, color, and imagery.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly in a remote setting.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing time and priorities effectively in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
