Key Responsibilities
- Accurately load and unload freight and packages from vehicles, conveyors, and sorting areas.
- Efficiently sort packages by destination, scanning and documenting items as required using handheld devices.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, such as pallet jacks and pump trucks, in strict accordance with company guidelines and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times, adhering to 5S principles.
- Inspect packages for damage, report any discrepancies or issues promptly, and handle them appropriately.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures and regulations, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily operational goals and ensure a smooth, continuous workflow.
- Prepare outbound shipments for dispatch, ensuring proper labelling, documentation, and staging.
- Perform other general warehouse duties as assigned to support overall operations and maintain productivity targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance for standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting, scanning, and identifying packages.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong and consistent work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic warehouse environment.
- Basic literacy (reading and writing English) and numeracy skills for understanding instructions and completing paperwork.
- Commitment to safety and strict adherence to all workplace safety procedures and guidelines.
- Team-oriented attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6 months or more) in a warehouse, logistics, shipping/receiving, or general labour role.
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., manual/electric pallet jacks, pump trucks).
- Familiarity with handheld scanning technology and basic inventory management systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
