DPD UK is urgently seeking a skilled and proactive Warehouse Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Oxford. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching parcels.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring clear communication and adherence to company policies.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring accuracy and efficient use of space within the warehouse.
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
- Optimise workflow processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall productivity.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on inbound and outbound goods to ensure accuracy and prevent damage.
- Prepare daily operational reports, analysing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
- Operate and oversee the use of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and other machinery, ensuring all operators are appropriately trained and certified.
- Liaise with other departments, such as transport and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and timely deliveries.
- Address and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of warehouse processes and implement new strategies as required.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a warehouse supervisory or lead role, preferably within a logistics or distribution setting.
- Demonstrable leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics processes.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to warehouse environments.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of engaging with staff at all levels.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
- A valid UK driving license and forklift operating license (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with parcel sortation technology.
