Job Description

Sysco Canada, the leading foodservice distributor, is urgently seeking dedicated Warehouse Picking Staff to bolster our operations at our Guelph distribution center. This is a crucial full-time position responsible for accurately and efficiently selecting products to fulfill customer orders. In this role, you will navigate our expansive warehouse, utilizing various equipment and technologies, including RF scanners, to locate, identify, and pick a wide range of food and non-food products. You will be expected to maintain exceptional attention to detail, ensuring product integrity, correct quantities, and proper packaging. The role demands a strong commitment to safety protocols, as you will operate in an environment with moving equipment and various product types. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and consolidate product from warehouse locations based on customer orders, utilizing RF scanners and other picking equipment.
- Ensure product integrity, correct quantities, and proper packaging for all selected items.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (training may be provided).
- Perform routine quality checks on products to ensure they meet Sysco’s standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Participate in inventory counts and help resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily productivity goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) frequently and consistently throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order picking.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
- Basic mathematical skills to count and verify product quantities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled warehouse environment (cold storage may be required).
- Proven reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, particularly in order picking.
- Experience with RF scanning equipment.
- Forklift or electric pallet jack certification and operating experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
