Key Responsibilities
- Accurately picking customer orders from designated locations within the warehouse using handheld scanners or voice picking systems.
- Operating manual and powered warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, stackers) safely and efficiently, following all training and safety protocols.
- Scanning products and updating inventory systems to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Ensuring picked items are correctly packed, labelled, and prepared for dispatch to various ASDA stores.
- Performing quality checks on products to ensure they meet ASDA's high standards before leaving the distribution centre.
- Adhering to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area, contributing to overall warehouse efficiency and safety.
- Assisting with other warehouse duties as required, including goods in, replenishment, and stock rotation.
- Working effectively as part of a diverse team to meet daily targets and deadlines, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets consistently.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in order picking and stock handling.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and move packages up to 20kg repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels, checking quantities, and completing basic paperwork.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to daily attendance.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Commitment to health and safety procedures and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even short-term) in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution centre environment.
- Experience operating MHE (Manual Handling Equipment) or PPT (Powered Pallet Truck) is advantageous, but full training will be provided.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar inventory tracking software.
- A positive, 'can-do' attitude and a proactive willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing operational needs.
