Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Warehouse Operative with a focus on Goods Handling to join our dynamic team at Alliance Healthcare’s Clevedon facility. In this essential role, you will be at the heart of our logistics operations, responsible for the efficient and accurate movement of a wide range of pharmaceutical and healthcare products. Your daily tasks will involve receiving, checking, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods, ensuring that they are handled with the utmost care and precision to meet our stringent quality and safety standards. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our supply chain and ultimately contributing to the timely delivery of vital products to patients and healthcare providers across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, unload, and check incoming deliveries against manifests, identifying and reporting any discrepancies or damages.
- Efficiently store goods in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper rotation and adherence to storage protocols (e.g., temperature control, expiry dates).
- Precise picking and staging of pharmaceutical and healthcare products according to customer orders, utilising handheld scanning equipment and following strict picking instructions.
- Carefully pack items, ensuring product integrity and compliance with packaging standards for safe transit.
- Prepare completed orders for dispatch, including labelling, strapping, and loading onto delivery vehicles.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and proficiently, such as pump trucks and pallet jacks (training provided if necessary).
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, adhering strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and stock checks, assisting with cycle counts and physical inventories as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality control issues to line management promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and meet daily operational targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading manifests and checking stock.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move packages up to 20kg repeatedly throughout a shift.
- A proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, particularly in goods handling or order fulfilment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or handheld scanning devices.
- Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines, particularly relevant to pharmaceutical products.
- Forklift truck license (e.g., Counterbalance or Reach Truck) is a bonus, but not essential.
