Marks & Spencer on Allerton Road, Liverpool, is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Loader to join our committed team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our Food Hall is always well-stocked with fresh and appealing products. You will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of incoming goods, from delivery reception to careful storage and preparation for the sales floor. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries from trucks, ensuring accuracy against delivery notes and checking for product damage or discrepancies.
- Safely and efficiently move goods using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, dollies).
- Sort and organize stock into designated storage areas within the warehouse and back-of-house facilities, adhering to 'first-in, first-out' (FIFO) principles for perishable items.
- Prepare goods for the sales floor, including unpacking, pricing, and ensuring products are ready for replenishment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the warehouse and storage areas, including regular waste removal and sweeping.
- Operate compactors for cardboard and plastic waste, adhering to safety guidelines.
- Assist with stock counts and inventory management as required, helping to minimize waste and optimize stock levels.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and food hygiene standards.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments to ensure smooth store operations and a seamless customer experience.
- Identify and report any damaged goods, equipment malfunctions, or potential safety hazards to management promptly.
- Support other store operational tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and carrying items weighing up to 25kg.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate stock checking and organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading delivery notes and counting stock.
- A proactive and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential for maintaining smooth operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, retail, or similar goods handling role.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques and equipment (e.g., pallet trucks).
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
