Young Brothers, Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Handler for our Day Shift operations at our bustling Kahului terminal. As a Warehouse Handler, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for the efficient and safe movement of diverse cargo that keeps our islands thriving. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload cargo from trucks, containers, and barges using appropriate equipment or manual methods.
- Sort, stage, and organize various types of freight within the warehouse and on the dock according to established procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (training provided or certification preferred).
- Perform visual inspections of cargo for damage and accurately report discrepancies or issues to supervisors.
- Prepare cargo for shipment, including accurate labeling, weighing, and shrink-wrapping as needed to ensure secure transport.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely cargo processing.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records of cargo movement and storage.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents promptly to ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly and perform strenuous physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling cargo and documentation.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety practices and willingness to follow safety guidelines.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for instructions and documentation.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions within an outdoor/indoor warehouse environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience (6 months to 1 year) in a warehouse, logistics, or physically demanding role.
- Valid forklift certification and/or experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or handheld scanners for tracking cargo.
- Knowledge of basic shipping and receiving procedures.
