Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer combination in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Transport various types of freight, including general merchandise and groceries, to Walmart stores and other designated locations.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods, adhering to scheduled routes and delivery windows.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all required paperwork diligently.
- Monitor cargo during transit to ensure it remains secure and arrives undamaged.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, store personnel, and other team members regarding delivery status or potential issues.
- Represent Walmart professionally at all times while on the road and at delivery locations.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major preventable accidents or violations in the last 3-5 years
- Ability to pass a comprehensive DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations (Hours of Service, vehicle inspections, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the job, including climbing, bending, lifting, and securing cargo
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-stop deliveries
- Familiarity with various trailer types (e.g., dry van, refrigerated units)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Proven track record of reliability and commitment to safety
- Customer service-oriented approach when interacting with store personnel
