Key Responsibilities
- Greet residents and guests warmly, assisting them to their tables and taking meal orders with accuracy and a friendly demeanor.
- Serve meals and beverages promptly and courteously, ensuring portion control and adherence to dietary restrictions as directed by the dietary manager or nursing staff.
- Assist residents with special needs, such as cutting food or opening containers, with patience and respect.
- Clear tables efficiently, wash dishes, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, kitchenettes, and serving areas before, during, and after meal times.
- Set tables for upcoming meals, ensuring all necessary tableware, condiments, and linens are properly placed.
- Stock supplies, including napkins, flatware, and beverages, ensuring availability for all meal services.
- Communicate resident feedback or concerns regarding meals or service to the dietary manager or nursing staff promptly.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required to enhance service delivery and resident satisfaction.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude, working collaboratively with kitchen staff, nursing team, and other departments to ensure a seamless dining experience.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to serve and interact with elderly residents.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in food service and sanitation.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and carry trays and dishes for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a food service role, particularly in a healthcare, senior living, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of special diets and dietary restrictions commonly found in long-term care environments.
- Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED.
