Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) is seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented Volunteer Coordinator specializing in Event Support to join our dynamic team in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province. This pivotal role is essential for the successful execution of KCC’s diverse range of community engagement, CSR, and internal corporate events. From educational workshops and health awareness campaigns to local festivals and employee appreciation days, our events rely on the dedication and passion of our volunteers. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of volunteer management for events, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing support. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective strategies for recruiting, screening, and onboarding volunteers for various KCC events.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles and understand event objectives.
  • Create and manage volunteer schedules, assignments, and shifts for all events, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient deployment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event volunteers, providing ongoing support, clear communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate logistics related to volunteers, including registration, check-in, distribution of materials, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain an accurate database of volunteer information, hours, and participation records.
  • Collaborate closely with event organizers, CSR teams, and other internal departments to understand event requirements and volunteer needs.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback from volunteers and identify areas for improvement in volunteer programs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive volunteer environment that encourages retention and ongoing engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with KCC’s policies, safety guidelines, and ethical standards in all volunteer activities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in volunteer management or event coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) in French and English; Swahili is a strong advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and manage diverse groups of people.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to community development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a large corporate environment, NGO, or non-profit sector in the DRC.
  • Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural sensitivities in Kolwezi and Lualaba Province.
  • Experience with volunteer management software or CRM systems.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
