Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, configuration, and testing of telecommunications equipment, including fiber optics, broadband, and data networking gear.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot technical issues related to network connectivity, signal integrity, and equipment functionality at customer locations.
- Execute repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on existing infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and minimize service disruptions.
- Educate customers on service features, equipment operation, and best practices for maximizing their telecommunications experience.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities, including installation details, repair logs, and inventory usage, using company provided tools and systems.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards during all field operations.
- Collaborate effectively with dispatch, technical support, and other internal teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Manage and organize vehicle inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring readiness for daily assignments.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with evolving technology and service offerings.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Field Technician or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong understanding of broadband, fiber optic, and networking technologies (e.g., DSL, Cable, FTTH, Ethernet).
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues on various telecommunications equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet service appointments.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or vocational training in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or industry-specific certifications (e.g., FOA, BICSI).
- Experience with smart home technology installation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CRM software and field service management tools.
