Job Description
Mazars Ireland is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to manage accounting records for a diverse portfolio of clients from the comfort of their home office. While the primary role is envisioned as full-time, we are open to considering exceptional part-time candidates who can demonstrate significant value. As a Virtual Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing vital support to our clients’ financial operations. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of accounts, including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and preparation of financial statements. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and proficiency with various accounting software. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-sufficient, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and internal teams remotely. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes for multiple clients.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Handle bank and credit card reconciliations accurately and promptly.
- Assist with payroll processing, including data entry, compliance checks, and preparation of related reports.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet) and other financial reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with Irish accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with clients and internal teams to gather necessary financial information and clarify discrepancies.
- Utilize accounting software effectively for all bookkeeping tasks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security protocols for all client information.
- Provide administrative support for financial tasks as needed.
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline bookkeeping processes and improve efficiency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts effectively in a remote setting.
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification (e.g., IATI, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent part-qualification).
- Experience working with multiple clients in a practice or consultancy environment.
- Familiarity with Irish tax regulations and compliance.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting solutions and digital document management systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
