Dyce Autocare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Vehicle Inspector – MOT & Compliance to join our thriving team in Dyce, Aberdeen. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive and impartial MOT inspections on Class 4 and 7 vehicles in accordance with DVSA standards and guidelines.
  • Accurately identify and record vehicle defects, issuing pass or fail certificates as appropriate.
  • Perform diagnostic checks and identify underlying causes of vehicle malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, tests, and repairs carried out.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of vehicle defects and necessary repairs to service advisors and customers.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with general vehicle servicing and repairs as required, utilising diagnostic equipment effectively.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in MOT regulations, vehicle technology, and industry best practices through continuous professional development.
  • Ensure the test lane and workshop areas are kept clean, tidy, and organised to maintain efficiency and safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Current DVSA MOT Tester certification (Classes 4 and 7 minimum).
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and automotive repair principles.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with colleagues and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within an automotive environment.
  • Additional DVSA MOT Tester certifications (e.g., Class 5).
  • Proficiency with digital inspection and workshop management systems.
