Job Description

United Parcel Service (UPS) is urgently seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Dispatcher to join our bustling operations team in Glendale, Arizona. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize daily driver routes and schedules for maximum efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers regarding schedules, route changes, and delivery instructions.
  • Monitor real-time progress of deliveries, addressing delays, breakdowns, or other issues promptly.
  • Utilize dispatching software and GPS tracking systems to oversee fleet movement and performance.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., customer service, warehouse) to resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate dispatch logs, reports, and other necessary documentation.
  • Train and onboard new drivers on route procedures and dispatch protocols as needed.
  • Provide exceptional support to drivers, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Assist in emergency situations, coordinating appropriate responses and resources.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using dispatching software, GPS, and other logistical tools.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with local geographical area (Glendale, Arizona and surrounding regions).
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (1-2 years) in a transportation, logistics, or dispatch role.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation industry best practices.
