Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures including abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, vascular, and small parts studies, adhering to established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality, calibration, and cleanliness.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the exam.
  • Accurately record patient medical history and relevant clinical information to aid in diagnosis.
  • Analyze sonographic images, selecting optimal views and measurements for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding findings and patient conditions.
  • Maintain precise documentation and electronic records of all procedures performed and images obtained.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification in at least one specialty (e.g., abdomen, OB/GYN, vascular).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in performing a variety of ultrasound examinations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and privacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ARDMS certification in multiple specialties.
  • Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or large clinic setting.
