Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, including tractors and various trailer types (e.g., tanker, dump, dry van), to transport bulk commodities efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all components are in good working order and promptly reporting any defects or malfunctions.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and comprehensive safety protocols to maintain a perfect safety record.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all necessary paperwork, including manifests, bills of lading, and expense reports, in a timely and organized manner.
  • Manage cargo loading and unloading, ensuring proper weight distribution, securement, and compliance with all safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any on-road issues or emergencies.
  • Represent H.O. Bouchard, Inc. professionally at all times while on the road and at customer sites, upholding our company's reputation for reliability and service.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights, to ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Adapt to varying weather and road conditions while maintaining a strong commitment to safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable experience operating Class A commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug screening, and ongoing random drug/alcohol tests.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state trucking regulations (FMCSA) and Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
  • Proficiency in maintaining electronic logging devices (ELDs) and understanding of modern in-cab technology.
  • Strong commitment to safety, excellent road awareness, and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eligibility and willingness to participate in a visa sponsorship program (comprehensive company assistance provided for successful candidates).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with truck driving, including lifting, bending, and climbing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HazMat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples endorsements on CDL-A.
