As an HGV Driver with XPO Logistics in the UK, you will be a vital part of our operational backbone, responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), specifically Class 1 (Category CE) vehicles, in accordance with UK and EU road transport laws.
  • Conduct thorough pre-shift vehicle checks and report any defects promptly to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
  • Load and unload goods safely, securing loads appropriately to prevent damage during transit.
  • Plan and execute efficient delivery routes, adhering to scheduled times and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and driving hours using digital tachographs and other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including manual handling procedures and site-specific protocols.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries and collections, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Communicate effectively with transport managers, colleagues, and customers, reporting any delays or issues promptly.
  • Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times, upholding company values and standards.

Required Skills

  • Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category CE) driving license, or the ability to convert an equivalent international license (support provided).
  • Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) professional truck driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Proven knowledge and adherence to UK/EU driving regulations and tachograph rules.
  • Strong understanding of road safety, vehicle maintenance, and safe load handling practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends as required by operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with temperature-controlled logistics or hazardous goods (ADR certificate).
  • Previous international driving experience, particularly within Europe.
  • Knowledge of specific UK geographical areas and road networks.
  • Forklift license or experience operating powered pallet trucks.
