Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Transport Manager to join our dynamic team in Abuloma, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role is central to optimizing our vast logistics operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods and personnel across various projects. The Transport Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of all fleet-related activities, ranging from vehicle deployment and maintenance schedules to route optimization and driver management. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the company's fleet, ensuring efficient vehicle utilization and timely deliveries.
  • Develop and implement transport strategies, route optimization plans, and scheduling to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage and supervise a team of drivers and logistics personnel, including training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local and international transportation laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and monitor vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure fleet readiness.
  • Implement and manage fleet tracking systems (GPS) to monitor vehicle movement, fuel consumption, and driver behavior.
  • Prepare and manage the transport department budget, analyzing expenditure and identifying areas for cost-saving.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures to ensure the safety and security of goods and personnel.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align transport operations with overall business objectives and client requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in fleet management and logistics coordination (minimum 5 years).
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and motivational skills.

  • Knowledge of local Port Harcourt and Nigerian road networks and logistical challenges.
