Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Coordinator to join our dynamic Freight Division team in Camberwell, London. This pivotal role involves the efficient planning, execution, and monitoring of freight movements, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods for our diverse client base. As a Transport Coordinator, you will be at the heart of our operations, coordinating with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to optimize routes, manage schedules, and resolve any operational challenges that arise. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule daily freight movements, optimising routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Liaise with drivers, ensuring they are fully briefed on routes, schedules, and delivery requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding shipment updates, potential delays, and successful deliveries.
  • Monitor real-time progress of deliveries, proactively addressing and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and health and safety regulations.
  • Manage and process transport documentation, including delivery notes, manifests, and customs paperwork where applicable.
  • Utilise transport management systems (TMS) and other software to track shipments and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations to ensure smooth loading and unloading of freight.
  • Investigate and report on any incidents, accidents, or complaints, implementing corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the freight division to enhance operational performance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a transport, logistics, or freight coordination role.
  • Strong understanding of UK transport regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of London and the surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Experience with international freight forwarding processes.
  • Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems and telematics.
  • Familiarity with lean logistics principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
