Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a wide variety of documents from English to French and French to English, including operational reports, technical specifications, legal documents, marketing materials, and internal communications.
  • Proofread and edit translated materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and adherence to company terminology and style guides.
  • Provide real-time interpretation for meetings, training sessions, and stakeholder interactions as needed, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Maintain glossaries and translation memories to ensure consistency and efficiency in translation projects.
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand their specific translation needs and deliver high-quality linguistic support.
  • Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously, adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure all translated content maintains the original meaning, tone, and context, especially in sensitive or technical materials.
  • Assist in developing and improving internal communication strategies to better serve a multilingual workforce.
  • Stay updated with industry-specific terminology and linguistic best practices.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in English and French (both written and spoken)
  • Proven experience in professional translation (English-French, French-English)
  • Excellent command of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary in both languages
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of linguistic nuances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related field
  • Certification from a recognized translation body (e.g., ATA, ITI)
  • Experience with Translation Memory (TM) tools and CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) software (e.g., Trados, MemoQ)
  • Previous experience in the logistics, shipping, or maritime industry
  • Familiarity with local Congolese dialects (e.g., Lingala, Kikongo) is a plus, but not required for primary translation duties.
