In this crucial role, you will be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of our passengers across Portlethen and the wider Aberdeen region. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate urban transport vehicles (buses) in accordance with company policies and road traffic laws.
- Adhere strictly to schedules and timetables, ensuring timely arrival and departure at designated stops.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries, ticketing, and ensuring a comfortable journey.
- Conduct thorough pre-service vehicle checks and report any defects promptly to maintain fleet safety and operational integrity.
- Manage passenger boarding and alighting processes, ensuring accessibility for all, including those with mobility challenges.
- Handle cash and electronic fare transactions accurately and securely.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and control centres, reporting incidents, delays, or emergencies as required.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment within the vehicle throughout your shift.
- Represent Stagecoach Bluebird professionally at all times, upholding our brand values and commitment to public service.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving Licence (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- A high degree of reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced urban environment.
- Strong commitment to safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) Licence (Category D or D1) or willingness to obtain one (full training provided).
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role or public service.
- Local geographical knowledge of Portlethen and Aberdeen routes and road networks.
- Basic first aid certification or willingness to undergo training.
