Are you an organised, vigilant, and community-focused individual ready to play a critical role in public safety and traffic flow in Torry, Aberdeen? Aberdeen City Council is seeking a dedicated Traffic Controller – Public Safety to join our essential services team. In this pivotal on-site role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, particularly during roadworks, public events, planned diversions, or unforeseen incidents across the vibrant Torry district. Your primary objective will be to minimise disruption, prevent accidents, and ensure the smooth operation of our road networks, safeguarding both the public and our operational teams. Key Responsibilities
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely and efficiently around work sites, incident areas, or during public events.
- Implement temporary traffic management plans, including setting up and dismantling signage, cones, and barriers.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, pedestrians, colleagues, and the public.
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as needed to minimise congestion and ensure safety.
- Respond to and assist with emergency situations, coordinating with emergency services where necessary.
- Conduct regular checks of traffic management equipment to ensure it is in good working order and correctly positioned.
- Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities and report any incidents or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, Council policies, and relevant legislation.

- Basic First Aid qualification
