Congo Local Guides is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Tour Guide specializing in Cultural and Wildlife experiences to join our dynamic team in Beni, North Kivu Province. As a Tour Guide, you will be the face of our company, responsible for leading groups of international and domestic tourists through some of the most breathtaking and culturally significant landscapes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This pivotal role involves curating and conducting immersive tours that highlight the unique biodiversity of regions like Virunga National Park, the rich history and traditions of local communities, and the stunning natural wonders of North Kivu.

Your day-to-day will involve far more than just navigation; you will be an educator, a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, and a safety guardian. You will provide in-depth information on flora, fauna, geological formations, and the socio-cultural context of the areas visited. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging and informative cultural and wildlife tours for diverse groups of tourists.
  • Provide accurate and captivating commentary on local history, culture, flora, and fauna.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants at all times, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Manage tour logistics, including transportation, accommodation, and activity schedules.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for guests, addressing inquiries and resolving issues professionally.
  • Promote cultural sensitivity and responsible tourism practices among guests.
  • Collaborate with local communities and conservation efforts to ensure sustainable tourism.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional attractions, current events, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist with basic first aid if necessary and coordinate with emergency services when required.
  • Prepare comprehensive tour reports and provide feedback to management.

Required Skills

  • Fluent in English and French (oral and written)
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a tour guide, preferably in cultural or wildlife tourism.
  • In-depth knowledge of North Kivu Province's geography, history, culture, and wildlife (especially Virunga National Park).
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and manage diverse groups.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • Valid driver's license for a 4×4 vehicle (advantageous).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Physical fitness and ability to navigate rough terrain and endure long hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Swahili or other local languages.
  • Degree or diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international clients.
  • Knowledge of local customs and traditions specific to Beni and surrounding regions.
  • Wilderness first aid certification.
