Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kukwuaba, Abuja. Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and equipment for various projects and operational sites.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical machinery and components, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of mechanical failures and performance issues.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including process, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with local and international industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Participate in risk assessments, root cause analysis, and incident investigations related to mechanical failures.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes for mechanical equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction in mechanical operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and material science.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and engineering simulation tools.
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering registration (COREN in Nigeria or equivalent).
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Certification in project management (PMP or equivalent).
- Knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines) and static equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers).
- Experience with reliability engineering principles (RCM, FMEA).
