As an Entry-Level Laboratory Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our petroleum products, lubricants, and related materials. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tests on various petroleum products, lubricants, and raw materials according to established ASTM, ISO, and TotalEnergies standards.
  • Operate and maintain a range of laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers, viscometers, density meters, and other analytical instruments.
  • Accurately record, analyze, and interpret test results, ensuring compliance with quality specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare chemical reagents and solutions as required for testing procedures, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures within the laboratory, promoting a safe working culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, regularly conducting equipment checks and minor troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the calibration, verification, and performance monitoring of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Report any deviations, anomalies, or out-of-spec results promptly to senior staff, initiating corrective actions as directed.
  • Participate in internal and external quality control programs and audits to uphold laboratory accreditation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, procedures, and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of basic chemistry, physics, and general laboratory principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and recording data.
  • Ability to follow instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) meticulously.
  • Proficiency in using common laboratory equipment and basic instrumentation.
  • Basic computer literacy, including experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Petroleum Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science discipline.
  • Prior internship or practical experience (e.g., industrial attachment) in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial).
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025 standards).
  • Knowledge of specific analytical techniques relevant to petroleum products (e.g., GC, HPLC, XRF, Titration).
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an advantage.
  • A strong academic record in science-related coursework and projects.
