Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tiler to join our dynamic construction team in Discovery Bay, Saint Ann. As a Tiler, you will be instrumental in bringing our architectural visions to life, specializing in the precise installation of various types of tiles for floors, walls, and bathrooms across our diverse development projects. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of tiling techniques, and the ability to work efficiently and safely to produce aesthetically pleasing and durable finishes. You will be responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and applying mortar, cutting and shaping tiles, and ensuring all installations meet our rigorous quality standards and design specifications. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing the beauty and functionality of our properties, ensuring every tile is laid with precision and care. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for tiling, including cleaning, leveling, and applying waterproofing membranes.
- Measure, cut, and shape various types of tiles (ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, etc.) to fit designated areas using manual and power tools.
- Mix and apply mortar, adhesives, and grout according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Lay tiles precisely on floors, walls, and other surfaces, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and levelness.
- Install decorative elements, trim, and fixtures as required.
- Grout and seal tiled surfaces, ensuring a clean, waterproof, and aesthetically pleasing finish.
- Inspect finished work for quality, ensuring adherence to design specifications and company standards.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company regulations on construction sites.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate effectively with site supervisors, other tradespeople, and project managers to ensure timely project completion.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tiler, with a strong portfolio of floor and bathroom tiling projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of different tile materials, installation techniques, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in using tiling tools and equipment, including cutters, grinders, levels, and trowels.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design specifications accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, precise workmanship.
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
- Effective problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges during installation.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in tiling or a related construction trade.
- Experience working on large-scale residential or commercial development projects.
- Knowledge of various waterproofing systems and their application.
- Basic first aid certification.
