Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products according to Tesla's quality standards, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Utilize a variety of precision measurement tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Document inspection results thoroughly, identifying and logging defects, non-conformities, and discrepancies in detail.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with production, engineering, and manufacturing teams to investigate root causes and implement effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs).
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality control procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending enhancements to inspection processes, tools, and quality documentation.
  • Maintain calibration records for inspection equipment and ensure all tools are within calibration dates.
  • Provide clear and concise feedback to production personnel regarding quality issues and required rework.
  • Assist in the development and revision of quality control plans, work instructions, and inspection checklists.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or aerospace.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications (GD&T knowledge highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of precision measurement tools and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing principles).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills for defect identification and root cause analysis.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and documentation.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing Technology) or equivalent experience.
  • ASQ certification (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Technician).
  • Experience with CMM programming and operation.
  • Familiarity with Tesla products and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience in a high-volume, automated production setting.
