As a Tesco Store Assistant, you will be a vital part of our store’s daily operations, directly impacting our customers’ shopping experience. Your day will be diverse, encompassing everything from warmly greeting customers and assisting them with their inquiries, to efficiently processing transactions at the checkout, and ensuring our shelves are meticulously stocked with fresh and appealing products. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers, assisting with product location, and answering questions in a friendly and professional manner.
- Accurately operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash, and process card transactions, ensuring all financial procedures are followed.
- Replenish and organize merchandise on shelves, ensuring proper rotation, clear pricing, and attractive displays.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe shopping environment, including aisles, checkout areas, and employee spaces.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing new stock deliveries efficiently.
- Support store promotions and seasonal displays to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines to ensure a secure environment for customers and colleagues.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily operational goals and foster a positive and supportive workplace.
- Proactively identify and resolve customer concerns, escalating complex issues to management when necessary to ensure complete satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and approachable attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in cash handling and inventory management.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous roles.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and lift up to 25 lbs consistently.
- Basic numeracy skills for accurate transaction processing and stock counts.
- A proactive work ethic and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic retail setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a customer service, retail, or hospitality role.
- Familiarity with various POS systems and retail operational software.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
