Key Responsibilities
- Expertly cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry, lamb) to prepare them for sale.
- Prepare and arrange attractive and appealing meat displays, ensuring freshness, proper labeling, and optimal presentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service, including offering recommendations, answering questions about cuts and cooking methods, and fulfilling custom orders with precision.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders for new stock, and manage meat rotation to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
- Operate and clean butchery equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance checks.
- Assist with receiving and storing meat deliveries, carefully checking for quality, quantity, and proper temperature.
- Stay informed about current meat trends, product availability, and pricing to best serve customer needs and manage stock.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and courteously, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a butcher with strong, precise knife skills.
- Thorough knowledge of different cuts of meat and various meat preparation techniques.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently as part of a dynamic team.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP certification preferred).
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and work comfortably in a refrigerated environment.
- Attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining presentation standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Butchery certification or relevant culinary training from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a high-volume retail or grocery setting.
- Knowledge of meat merchandising and effective display techniques.
