ANS Group is seeking a dedicated Technical Writer – Documentation Specialist to join our dynamic team in Manchester. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving a wide range of technical content that empowers our internal teams, partners, and customers to effectively utilise our innovative cloud services and digital solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, release notes, technical specifications, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers, product managers, solution architects, and other subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather, interpret, and organise complex technical information.
  • Translate highly technical and complex concepts into clear, concise, and accurate content tailored to various audiences (e.g., developers, IT professionals, end-users).
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product enhancements, changes, and new features, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all materials.
  • Contribute to and enforce documentation style guides, terminology, and content standards to ensure a unified and professional brand voice.
  • Manage the documentation lifecycle from planning and research to drafting, reviewing, publishing, and archiving.
  • Proactively identify documentation needs, suggest improvements to content structure and delivery, and advocate for best practices in technical communication.
  • Utilise various documentation tools and platforms to create, manage, and publish content efficiently.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Technical Writer or Documentation Specialist in a technology-driven environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong emphasis on clarity, grammar, and style.
  • Proficiency with modern documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Git, Markdown, XML authoring tools).
  • Demonstrable ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interviewing and information-gathering skills with subject matter experts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A portfolio showcasing technical writing samples that demonstrate your ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working within the cloud computing, IT services, or software development industry.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and documentation version control practices.
  • Experience with graphic design tools for creating diagrams, flowcharts, and screenshots to enhance documentation.
