Mutanda Mining is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Technical Writer to join our dynamic team in Kolwezi, Lualaba Province. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining a wide range of technical documentation related to our complex mining operations, including equipment manuals, operational procedures, safety guidelines, software documentation, and training materials. We are looking for a professional who can translate intricate technical concepts and processes into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language for diverse audiences, from seasoned engineers to on-site technicians. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, operational procedures, maintenance guides, safety protocols, and training materials.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and project teams to gather, organize, and synthesize complex technical information.
  • Translate complex technical concepts and specifications into clear, concise, and engaging content for target audiences.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all documentation, adhering to established style guides and terminology.
  • Manage the documentation lifecycle, including planning, creation, review, approval, publishing, and regular updates.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing documentation for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and compliance with company standards.
  • Identify opportunities for documentation improvement and implement best practices in technical communication.
  • Utilize various documentation tools and content management systems to optimize efficiency and maintain content integrity.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to stay informed about product developments and project requirements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interview subject matter experts and extract relevant information.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and documentation authoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the mining, oil & gas, or heavy machinery industries.
  • Knowledge of structured authoring principles (e.g., DITA).
  • Proficiency with specialized documentation tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, SharePoint).
  • Ability to communicate in French is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with graphic design tools for creating diagrams and illustrations.
