Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team within the Maiden Erlegh Trust, serving one of our dynamic schools in Reading, England. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, assisting with literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.
- Help prepare and maintain learning resources, equipment, and classroom displays.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or English as an additional language (EAL) requirements, adapting materials as needed.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide feedback to the class teacher.
- Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment.
- Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips, as required.
- Foster students' independence, self-esteem, and social development.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.

Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching and Learning Support, or equivalent qualification.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting (e.g., school, nursery, youth club).
- Knowledge of various learning strategies and educational technologies.
- First Aid qualification.
