Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the preparation and delivery of engaging classroom activities and lessons.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.
- Support children with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure their full inclusion and academic progress.
- Help to manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
- Prepare and maintain classroom resources and equipment.
- Supervise children during breaks, lunchtimes, and school trips.
- Contribute to the assessment and recording of pupil progress.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding pupil development.
- Support the social and emotional development of pupils, fostering their independence and self-esteem.
Required Skills
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
- Demonstrable experience (at least 1 year) working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet the diverse needs of pupils and the school.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) support.
- Knowledge of the UK primary school curriculum.
- First Aid qualification.
