Key Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in preparing and delivering engaging lesson plans and educational activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, including those with special educational needs, to reinforce learning concepts.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, orderly, and focused learning environment.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, resources, and equipment for daily lessons and projects.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as recess, lunch breaks, and transitions between activities.
- Assist with the assessment of student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing feedback to the teacher.
- Support the teacher in communicating with parents/guardians regarding student progress and well-being, as needed.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) where applicable.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and extra-curricular activities as required.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for learning.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
- Basic understanding of child development and learning principles.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and the classroom.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) working in a school or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of local Jamaican educational curriculum standards.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning styles or special needs.
- A strong understanding of positive behaviour management techniques.
