Job Description

Tucson Tank Lines is actively seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Tanker Truck Driver with a Hazmat Endorsement to join our esteemed team. While our home base is in Tucson, Arizona, this specialized role supports critical bulk liquid transportation operations that may include extended routes and project-based assignments, potentially reaching client sites or operational hubs in diverse regions, including areas such as Edmonton, Alberta, depending on project needs and client demands. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, specifically tanker trucks, for the transportation of bulk hazardous and non-hazardous liquids.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, federal and state laws, and company policies, especially concerning hazardous materials transport.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Load and unload various liquid products using appropriate safety procedures and equipment, ensuring product integrity and containment.
  • Maintain accurate and complete trip logs, delivery manifests, inspection reports, and all other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding schedules, delays, and any issues encountered on route.
  • Represent Tucson Tank Lines professionally at all times, upholding our commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage fuel efficiency and vehicle maintenance reporting.
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility for potential extended routes and assignments, including those that may require travel to diverse operational areas like Edmonton, Alberta.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Valid Hazmat (H) endorsement
  • Valid Tanker (N) endorsement
  • Minimum 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably with tanker trailers
  • Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations (HMR), and safe driving practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading and vehicle inspections

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience transporting specific bulk liquids such as fuels, chemicals, or other petroleum products.
  • Previous experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and fleet management systems.
  • Advanced defensive driving and safety certifications.
  • Familiarity with cross-border transportation regulations (e.g., US-Canada) or willingness to acquire such knowledge for specific projects.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively on extended routes.
