Job Description

MegaMart Jamaica is seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator with a strong focus on IT infrastructure and maintenance to join our dynamic team in the Black River region. In this critical role, you will be the backbone of our operational technology, ensuring the seamless performance, security, and reliability of our IT systems across designated retail outlets and administrative functions. You’ll be responsible for a wide array of tasks, from network configuration and server management to end-user support and proactive system maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure components.
- Perform regular system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
- Ensure system security through access controls, firewalls, and regular security audits.
- Administer and troubleshoot network connectivity, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN connections.
- Provide technical support and resolve IT-related issues for end-users, including hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Implement and manage data backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on IT equipment and systems to minimize downtime.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with company policies.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialized IT support and procurement.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and inventory accurately and comprehensively.
- Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with all company IT policies and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Server 2016, 2019, 2022).
- Proficiency in network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
- Experience with Active Directory management.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Understanding of backup and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide effective technical support to diverse users.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSA, CCNA).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
- Knowledge of retail POS systems and inventory management software.
- Experience with VoIP systems and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
