Job Description
Are you an experienced Systems Administrator ready to take on a pivotal role in a fast-paced and growing energy company? Opus Energy is actively seeking a talented and proactive Systems Administrator to join our IT operations team in Northampton. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and routers.
- Implement and enforce security policies, perform regular security audits, and manage patch deployment.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, Active Directory, and identity management solutions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all IT systems and procedures.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup operations, and business continuity initiatives.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT teams.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and system performance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator in a corporate environment.
- Strong proficiency with Windows Server operating systems (2016/2019/2022) and Active Directory.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and endpoint security solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, ITIL).
- Experience with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
- Experience with Linux server administration.
