Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sync Licensing Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Atlanta, Georgia. This pivotal role involves supporting the music licensing department in securing and managing music rights for a diverse range of visual media projects, including film, television, advertising campaigns, and digital content across Warner Bros. Discovery’s extensive portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of music publishing, copyright law, and the nuances of sync licensing, demonstrating an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment. You will be instrumental in the administrative aspects of licensing, ensuring all necessary agreements, clearances, and documentation are meticulously handled, contributing directly to the successful realization of our groundbreaking content. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and clearance of music rights for various WBD productions and content platforms.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive music rights databases and tracking systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Draft and review music synchronization licenses, master use licenses, and other related legal documents.
- Liaise with music publishers, record labels, composers, and artists to secure necessary permissions and negotiate terms under supervision.
- Facilitate the timely delivery of music assets, metadata, and license agreements to internal production teams and external partners.
- Track and process licensing fees and royalty payments, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Provide administrative support to the sync licensing team, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations, and managing correspondence.
- Stay informed on industry trends, copyright law updates, and new technologies relevant to music licensing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, business affairs, production, and marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of music.
- Identify and proactively address potential rights issues or conflicts, escalating as necessary.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Entertainment Law, Communications, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in music publishing, record label operations, or music licensing.
- Demonstrable understanding of music copyright, intellectual property, and licensing agreements.
- Proficiency in database management and project tracking software.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with music rights management systems (e.g., Rightsline, Music Maestro).
- Familiarity with various PROs (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) and their functions.
- Understanding of digital music platforms and evolving media distribution models.
- Experience working within a large corporate entertainment or media company.
