Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accurate land surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
- Operate and maintain a variety of surveying instruments such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels.
- Collect and process field data using relevant software and techniques.
- Prepare detailed survey plans, maps, and reports using CAD and GIS software.
- Perform calculations and data analysis to ensure the accuracy and integrity of survey data.
- Research historical survey records, deeds, and other relevant documents.
- Interpret legal descriptions and property boundaries.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with Jamaican land laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive field notes and project documentation.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures in the field.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating modern surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS/GNSS).
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, practices, and computations.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) for drafting and mapping.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data management.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, and legal documents.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Surveyor's License or eligibility for registration with the Land Surveyors Association of Jamaica.
- Experience with drone surveying and photogrammetry techniques.
- Knowledge of laser scanning technology and point cloud processing.
- Familiarity with project management principles in a surveying context.
