Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive land surveys using total stations, GPS/GNSS, and other surveying instruments.
  • Perform topographic, cadastral, construction layout, and as-built surveys for various infrastructure projects.
  • Collect, process, and analyze spatial data to generate accurate drawings, maps, and reports.
  • Interpret engineering plans and specifications to establish control points and precise project layouts.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure survey data accuracy and project alignment.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed field notes, survey records, and digital data files.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with national standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Perform calculations related to surveying measurements, area determination, and volume computations.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain surveying equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior surveying staff or field assistants.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor progress and address survey-related issues.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in land surveying principles and practices
  • Expertise with total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels
  • Strong knowledge of surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, GIS applications)
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Excellent mathematical and geometrical aptitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Surveyor registration/licensure in Jamaica or a comparable jurisdiction
  • Experience with remote sensing technologies (e.g., LiDAR, drone photogrammetry)
  • Familiarity with Jamaican land laws and regulations
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
