Progressive Foods in Trench Town, Kingston, is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Supermarket Staff to join our growing team as Cashier & Stock Associates. In this multifaceted role, you will be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring our customers have a seamless and positive shopping experience while maintaining a well-stocked and organised store.
As a Cashier, you will be the final point of contact for our customers, handling transactions accurately, efficiently, and with a friendly demeanour. This involves operating our Point of Sale (POS) system, processing various payment methods, scanning items, and resolving customer inquiries with patience and professionalism. Your ability to engage with customers, offer assistance, and ensure checkout speed will directly contribute to customer satisfaction and loyalty. We are looking for individuals who can maintain composure during peak hours, manage cash drawers responsibly, and uphold our commitment to accuracy in all financial transactions.
Beyond the checkout counter, your role as a Stock Associate is equally crucial. You will be responsible for receiving, unpacking, and organising inventory, ensuring shelves are always well-stocked, neatly arranged, and properly priced. This includes checking for expired items, rotating stock to minimise waste, and assisting with inventory counts. Physical stamina is important for lifting and moving merchandise, and attention to detail is key to maintaining an appealing and accessible shopping floor. You will also play a role in maintaining the overall cleanliness and presentation of the store, ensuring a pleasant shopping environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate cash register and POS system accurately, handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions efficiently.
- Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide exceptional service to enhance their shopping experience.
- Process returns, exchanges, and resolve customer complaints with professionalism and a problem-solving attitude.
- Receive, unpack, and stock merchandise onto shelves, ensuring proper placement, rotation, and pricing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor and checkout area.
- Monitor inventory levels, identify low stock, and assist with stock counts as required.
- Ensure all products are correctly priced and displayed according to store standards.
- Assist with bagging groceries and help customers with carry-out service when necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and security.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive work environment.
