Tesco in Walton Vale, Liverpool, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Storekeeper to join our dynamic team, focusing on Inventory Management & Supply. This critical role is the backbone of our store’s operational success, ensuring that our shelves are consistently stocked, our inventory is accurate, and our supply chain runs smoothly from delivery to display.
As a Storekeeper, you will be responsible for the meticulous management of all incoming and outgoing goods, playing a pivotal part in maintaining optimal stock levels and minimising waste. You’ll be the first point of contact for deliveries, ensuring that products are received, inspected, accurately recorded, and stored in an organised and accessible manner. Your expertise in inventory control will be essential in preventing stock discrepancies, facilitating efficient replenishment, and supporting our sales floor teams in providing an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming deliveries, verifying contents against purchase orders and reporting discrepancies.
- Accurately record and update inventory data using manual and digital systems, ensuring real-time stock visibility.
- Organise and maintain the stockroom, ensuring goods are stored safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Prepare and dispatch outgoing stock transfers and returns, ensuring proper documentation and packaging.
- Conduct regular stock counts and participate in periodic inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and report any damaged, expired, or slow-moving stock, assisting with appropriate disposal or clearance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the stockroom and delivery areas.
- Operate manual handling equipment (e.g., pallet trucks) safely and efficiently, where required and trained.
- Collaborate closely with sales floor colleagues and management to facilitate timely product replenishment and support promotional activities.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and company policies.
