We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Supervisor to join our dedicated team at Hi-Lo Food Stores in Meadowbrook, Kingston. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day retail activities, which includes leading, motivating, and training a team of retail associates. You will be directly involved in optimizing stock levels, implementing effective merchandising strategies, and maintaining rigorous inventory control to minimize loss and maximize sales. This role demands a proactive individual capable of handling various operational tasks, from opening and closing procedures and cash management to resolving customer inquiries and ensuring compliance with all company policies and health and safety regulations. You will also be tasked with conducting regular stock counts, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring that all products are displayed attractively and are readily available to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily store operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
  • Lead, train, and motivate retail associates to achieve sales targets and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee all aspects of stock management, including ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation, and inventory control to minimize waste and maximize product availability.
  • Implement effective merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and customer appeal.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies, reporting findings to management.
  • Manage cash handling procedures, including till reconciliation and banking, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling, performance reviews, and general staff management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment at all times.
  • Participate in store opening and closing procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a retail supervisory role (3+ years).
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and stock control systems.
  • Solid understanding of retail operations and merchandising principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems specific to grocery retail.
  • Knowledge of Jamaican consumer goods market and local supplier relationships.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
