Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily retail operations, ensuring seamless workflow, optimal efficiency, and exceptional customer service delivery.
  • Drive sales performance, achieve profitability targets, and manage budgets through effective merchandising strategies, impactful promotions, and consistent staff motivation.
  • Manage inventory levels comprehensively, including efficient ordering, receiving, accurate stocking, and conducting regular, thorough stock audits to minimize loss and ensure product availability.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and supervise all store staff, fostering a positive, engaging, and highly productive team environment.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules effectively to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and optimal operational efficiency.
  • Implement and rigorously enforce all company policies, operational procedures, and stringent health & safety regulations.
  • Promptly and professionally handle all customer inquiries, feedback, complaints, and issues to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Perform critical administrative duties such as daily financial reconciliation, preparing detailed sales and operational reports, and managing payroll inputs accurately.
  • Maintain the highest standards of store presentation, cleanliness, organization, and security at all times.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive activities to make informed business decisions and identify new growth opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for staff, provide ongoing coaching, constructive feedback, and identify development areas.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertinent to retail operations in Nigeria.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in retail management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a supermarket or large-scale retail environment.
  • Demonstrable strong leadership and effective team management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in comprehensive inventory management and control systems.
  • Solid understanding of retail sales principles, strategies, and effective merchandising techniques.
  • Ability to analyze complex sales data, generate actionable insights, and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced setting.
  • Competency in using Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Sound financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cash handling, and basic accounting principles.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific enterprise retail management software (e.g., SAP Retail, Oracle Retail).
  • In-depth knowledge of local market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape in Port Harcourt and wider Rivers State.
  • Fluency in local Nigerian languages (e.g., Igbo, Ikwerre) in addition to English.
